IIUC it works over SSH which would be kind of nice I suppose

It "should" adjust, but in practice most software do not render spaces after periods properly. There is no in band signal to distinguish periods for sentence ends vs e.g. Mr. Thus there is a clear argument for double spacing in all contexts

A lot of people forget that "right to repair" means that YOU fix it. There is no silver bullet. You can either rely on a company to fix it for you and not screw you over, or you can do all of the work of sourcing parts and labor, and if you mess up the repair then you own the pieces.

Which makes it at best ineffectual, the same as almost all regulation in California

Is it discrimination if you decide to switch to custom power outlets in your house and then you complain that local hardware stores don't provide compatible parts?

The winning move is to achieve inner peace and to stop being bothered by the many imperfections of reality. I've been much happier after realizing that I am not the heroic savior of the universe.

The workers do have a choice to not take it, so it's clearly not that crappy when weighed against the pay and job security (and free doohickies they "confiscate").

> humans will never make it to Mars

Humans will never cure diseases, humans will never fly, humans will never go to space, etc.

Your biased knee jerk reaction is obvious; 911 calls involve many non-law enforcement cases.

This is just all/most regulation in a nutshell. The cost of compliance is regressive, like how the process is the punishment in legal matters.
