Do they _really_ need the rights to publish on my wall? Why? To advertise their product and go viral? But is the "like" button not enough?

That's too intrusive for me I'm not allowing access to my facebook profile.

It seems that every application nowadays needs the rights to post on your wall. I wish it was possible to negotiate with them. I always end up just not using things instead...

You can go into you application permision options later and remove any non required permissions. Can sometimes stop the application from working but then you can re-evaluate worth. I do this periodically everything I have authorized to use Facebook Connect. Good time to get rid of anything you are no longer using also

Same here. Anyone post any screenshots?

They don't abuse it, I think it's because the app is built in flash, they can't use the standard post to wall dialogue, so they've built their own which requires post to wall privileges.

The only thing it posted to my wall was a message I approved and clicked 'send' on

I think Facebook apps must request the permissions necessary for all of its implemented features upfront regardless of wether you choose to use a specific feature. In this case the default is to not post to your wall. You must opt to do so by clicking a link, so to me it is nonintrusive, though I suppose it requires a certain degree of trust.

No, you can ask for more permissions at any time, but this way the app only has to ask once, and most people probably just click "allow" anyway since they want to see the app.

That's pretty much standard now, as facebook has made it impossible to grow a social app otherwise.
