Actually not even that is true for every version for emacs. Auqumacs for OSX supports almost all standard editor commands like

Cmd - s Cmd - z Cmd - Shift - z Cmd - c Cmd - x Cmd - v

The only thing that doesn't work reliable for me is

Shift - left/right

to mark text.
