I do this for different reasons. I just don't want every site knowing when I'm logged in and using my computer, which computer that is, and whatever else information they're grabbing all day.

I've recently had to add a notifications system for an app I manage for a client. The client requested it, and I work as part of a larger company, so I couldn't exactly say no, but I felt pretty icky doing it

I recently unsubscribed from a grocery delivery service becuase they kept pushing adverts through their app. I gave them notification permission so I could see when my delivery is nearby, not so they could spam me. Voting with my wallet on this one.

(For the curious, a subscription means free delivery. The subscription costs 10 euro a month, and if you don't have a subscription, the delivery fee is around 4 euro)

It sounds like a subscription means ad-funded delivery to me though

That's clearly how it turned out but going in, I would have expected the a subscription to be a discount in exchange for a commitment of repeat business.

Yeah I would expect a subscription to remove ads

Personally I would absolutely refuse to pay for services that still continue to serve me ads even though I'm paying

I loathe advertising. I don't understand why most people seem so apathetic about it

You don't need a subscription to use the app, and I presume these ads are pushed to all users.
