There are sharps containers in the bathrooms in my office in the US. It's to support people who have to inject insulin and the like, not injectable narcotics.
But I think they'd be a good idea in places that have drug use problems. I do not want to deal with an accidental needle-stick from some homeless drug-users syringe.
