I wonder if this has parallels in subconscious email formatting? Weird line breaks in emails used to really bug me until I realised most people were composing inside an email program that only showed them a reduced width editor, but because I wasn't used to formatting myself it took a long time for me to get used to things like forum posts, where the lines continue over and you don't think much about it unless you are making a sylistic point
